Cartagena: Isla Baru Beach Club at Playa Blanca

2.Isla Baru Beach Club at Playa Blanca

★★★★★★★★★★3.7 · 124 reviews · 8 hours · from $40

Travel from Cartagena across Barú to Playa Blanca for five hours at Mambo Beach Club. Swim in warm turquoise water, use a sun lounger, enjoy a 30,000-peso lunch voucher, and meet bilingual guides such as Alex, Nicho, Juancho, or Angel. Bring cash, sandals, a towel, and mosquito repellent.

“The beach is wonderful! Calm sea, warm water, very pleasant. However, there are a lot of people going around with jet skis and speed boats, quite near to shore, and that made me quite anxious. The ride from Cartagena to Isla Baru was made on an old bus and took quite some time because of the traffic. The restaurant was OK. There were a lot of people selling stuff coming to us all the time with handycraft and other stuff. That can be irritating sometimes, but we ended up buying some things and we don't regret! It was a good day.”

3.Full day At Beach Club in Playa Blanca Baru cartagena

★★★★★★★★★★4.5 · 67 reviews · 8 hours (approx.) · from $40

Spend about eight hours at Mambo Beach Club on Playa Blanca, Barú, with air-conditioned transport from Cartagena, a bilingual coordinator, welcome drink, lunch voucher, bathrooms, lockers, loungers, and beach access. The ride takes roughly 90 minutes each way, traffic can stretch it longer, and the beach has coral rocks in places.

“My wife has arthritis and we opted for this trip as we did not need to use transportation by boat as it is difficult for her to get in and out. Miguel our guide was punctual at the meeting point and communicated very well in English. However on the trip to the beach he was vaping sitting in the front seat which was uncomfortable to us especially as the van was full with 8 passengers at the back. The beach was average and had a lot of coral rocks in the sand and we had tto be careful walking in the ocean. The staff and service as well as the…”

“Verdadeira arapuca! Não caiam nessa. O local é minúsculo, sem infraestrutura, apenas alguns sofás e espreguiçadeiras. Sujo, sem energia e sem água potável. Não vale a pena!!”

National Aviary & Mambo Beach Club Baru – Playa Blanca

5.National Aviary & Mambo Beach Club Baru – Playa Blanca

★★★★★★★★★★4.5 · 55 reviews · 8 hours (approx.)

Start with a morning visit to Colombia’s National Aviary, where you walk among colorful birds and watch a live show. Then continue to Mambo Beach Club on Playa Blanca for lunch, sun chairs, and several hours by the Caribbean. Guides such as Juancho, Sergio, Jose, and Alex have earned praise, but beach vendors and rough roads require patience.

“The aviary was a really unique experience and the beach was great! A nice day trip from Cartagena, we really enjoyed ourselves and would recommend if you only want a few hours at the beach as opposed to a whole day.”

6.Isla Barú: Beach Club Access and Tour of the National Aviary

★★★★★★★★★★3.8 · 29 reviews · 8 hours · from $70

Spend eight hours traveling from Cartagena to Barú, visiting Colombia’s National Aviary and relaxing at Playa Blanca. See more than 2,000 birds across 22 exhibits, then enjoy a welcome drink, lunch credit, sea views, swimming, chairs, huts, and social areas. The bilingual guide handles transport and timing, but the aviary visit is largely self-guided.

“There is no guide for the aviario, but it was an interesting sight. Four of us were left at the aviario, but because of traffic no one came to pick us up at 12.00 and go to the beach. I took a moto to get to the beach and wasn't even offered a free drink to compensate for the discomfort. The beach is super crowded and the place very loud. Because of traffic it took almost three hours to return. The guide was kind, but overall not the best day, especially if you like peace and quiet.”

PAO PAO BEACH CLUB - Lunch with five practical choices
Beach Clubs & Day Passes, Cartagena Tours, Tour Reviews

PAO PAO BEACH CLUB

8.PAO PAO BEACH CLUB

★★★★★★★★★★4.2 · 20 reviews · 7 hours · from $109

Spend seven hours at Pao Pao Beach Club in Bolívar with boat transport from La Bodeguita Pier, a welcome cocktail, snorkeling, wellness time, a frigate tour, lunch, and a sun lounger. The setting suits adults and children over 12 who want a calm beach day, though extra cash is needed for dock tax and insurance.

“Overall it was a good experience. Boat left pretty much on time there and back. Took a little over an hour rather than the suggested 45 minute. Food was good. Place is clean and peaceful. Drinks were nice. Negative is that my particular waiter only came by about twice before lunch. After lunch I didn’t see him and after 45 minutes went and found him myself. I think this was likely because I was solo. A little more attention would have given 5 stars.”

“This experience overall was just “okay”. The service and staff were amazing! The only fault is that the beach is just not up to par with the other beaches in the area. I recommend looking for an island beach club that is a further boat ride from the mainland. The water was not as clear as other places.”
